We are seeking a skilled and passionate Cook to join our kitchen team. This role is ideal for someone with genuine experience in Thai cuisine who takes pride in authenticity, quality, and consistency – and who wants to be part of a tight-knit team that is serious about the food it puts on the table.
✓ Salary: $60,000 – $77,000 plus superannuation, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and cook a range of authentic Thai dishes to a consistently high standard, ensuring quality, flavour, and presentation align with Chanya Thai’s culinary benchmarks.
- Follow established Thai recipes and kitchen guidelines to maintain consistency and authenticity across all dishes.
- Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to execute service efficiently, particularly during busy periods.
- Monitor and maintain stock levels of Thai ingredients and kitchen supplies, communicating shortages or requirements to the Kitchen Manager promptly.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment in full compliance with food safety, hygiene, and WHS regulations.
- Assist in guiding and supporting junior kitchen staff on Thai cooking methods and quality standards as required.
- Contribute to a positive, professional kitchen culture that reflects teamwork and Thai hospitality values.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Proven experience as a Cook, with demonstrated knowledge of Thai cuisine and cooking techniques – this is a must!
- Strong understanding of traditional Thai flavours, ingredients, and food preparation methods.
- Formal culinary qualification or relevant certification – highly regarded but not mandatory.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment while maintaining consistency and authenticity.
- Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene practices, and WHS legislation.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Availability to work a rotating roster including evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
